Greetings, programs!

My name is Chris Umbel, the CTO of a small digital entertainment company located in western Pennsylvania. I’ve been in the technology industry since 1999 — holding titles like software developer; database administrator; solutions architect; DevOps director; and, most recently, CTO.

Years ago I ran a semi-successful blog focussing on software development, database administration, and amateur electronics design. After taking a demanding traveling job in 2015 my blogging fell off and I shut the site down. There was just no space in my life to write posts (with the level of quality I expect), respond to comments, and revise content as the world changed.

I can’t say that I have any more time than I used to, but I can say that I’ve gotten better at managing my time. As such, I’m relaunching my blog with content matching my current interests. I’ll post commentary on cybersecurity, management, vintage computer repair, DevOps, organizational leadership, and maybe even a little bit of philosophy here and there. The posts won’t be frequent but I certainly hope to make them worth your time.

If your interests match mine and you like my content, I encourage you to comment on my posts and connect with me on LinkedIn. It’s always great to get connected with other technology professionals and hobbyists!
